Thomas is knocking at the door.
Tenant:”Go away! I’m busy!”

Thomas decides to kick in the door!
He makes his revolver ready and tries to kick the door in!

Thomas routinely brakes the door out of its locks. The door swings wide open. Thomas goes in, with his gun ready.

Thomas comes into the flat, he sees a young latino man in his mid tweenties, nervously holding a baseballbat. Tears coming from his eyes because of the fear.

ThomasW: “Baseballbat to the ground asshole!”

ThomasM: “I…I… will not do that. I’m homest I shitting my pants here, but I read stuff… enough to know that if I give in now I’m already dead.”
ThomasW:”You are an idiot! Also a frikking pervert! Why are you snooping on my daughter Abigail?”

He insists that Laura (Abigail) left the building with some no-account guy who sells encyclopedias and lives on the sixth floor. Thomas Manuel claims he told the authorities this time and again and has yet to see them follow up on it.

ThomasW:”This building has no sixth floor. Why is everyone telling me there is one.”
ThomasM:”As there is, it is just hard to reach. Most people get lost. But Laura, Laura was special she knew how to navigate!”
ThomasW:”The nightfloors?”
ThomasM:”Exactly!”
ThomasW:”Why are you listening in on my daughter?”

ThomasM:”Laura… she somehow cracked the code. She had the most insight from anyone! I hoped when I listen in on her, she might perform the play and I would gain her insight as well!”
He says he last saw Laura (Abigail) on 28 MAY 1995 at a going-away party in the Smoking Lounge on the fourth floor. Asked where Abigail was going, he says that she “moved on and could now move upstairs with “the others.”

Thomas is lowering the gun.
ThomasW:”Something really fucked up is going on here with you people!”

ThomasM responds laughing:”No no, direct in front of my apartment on the ground floor!”
ThomasM:”Thanks, and sorry for the door!”
ThomasW:”The Nightmanager, Mr. Castaigne might be able to fix it!”

Thomas is going back to Abigails apartment.

Scene 5 (CF:3) – The way back to the apartment- 2 pm

Random Manisfistation: Masked Men

Two people run across the opening at the end of a distant hallway, too suddenly to be seen clearly. A moment later, they are followed by three men in large, old-looking gas masks, carrying shotguns. After they cross out of sight, there are the distant, thundering reports of shotgun blasts.

Thomas is making his gun ready. He then following the hallway the men were running and the shotgun blasts were coming from.

Thomas is rushing to the junction and finds two “dead” marionettes laid out on the ground, torn open by short-range buckshot. They are made of clockwork, but red tissue paper spills out of them in an
approximation of blood.
Both carry wallets with old New York identity cards for Eric K. Carter (from 1953) and Ronald Burbach (from 1955), as well as money, bus passes, and other items from the period.
But the wallets and all the papers in them look new.
